Swiss Confederation

    Switzerland, officially the Swiss Confederation, is a republican country consisting of 26 cantons (provinces). It is located in Western Europe, bordered by Germany to the north, France to the west, Italy to the south, and Austria to the east. It itself is geographically divided between the Alps mountain range, the Central Plateau, and the Jura mountain range. It is one of the richest countries in the world as well is having some of the highest life expectancy rates. It is a neutral country, not having been in war since 1815, and joined the United Nations in 2002. It contains 3 main languages: German, French, and Italian, though the country itself is mainly dominated German-speaking people. It uses a Federal Constitution of government that was adopted in 1848, recently updated with several small changes in 1999.
